Take The First Step With NLP in Bournemouth, Dorset.
NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is now available to anyone living in the Bournemouth and Dorset area.
NLP hypnosis techniques include the fast phobia cure, anchoring – where you can access a certain state of mind in any situation – and parts therapy which can help people overcome negative parts of their personality.
As such NLP has many overlaps with cognitive behavioural therapy.
Three of the most important aspects within the wide field of NLP are effective communication, submodalities and positive visualisation. Each of these three pillars of NLP Hypnosis will be introduced by your qualified Dorset NLP practitioner at Dolphin Hypnotherapy during your consultation, then followed up in further appointments with us.
They are essential elements that can help you to take control of emotions and behaviours and break free of traditional patterns and habits to make better choices and positive changes.
Understanding your ‘map’
Everyone has a different map! Millions of pieces of information are processed through our five senses every second. Our minds cannot possibly keep track of them all at once and so it builds a ‘map’.
Imagine having to create a 100% accurate map of London. It would have to be an exact replica of London and therefore the same size, making it useless. So a map is very much an abridged version of reality. It’s one of the reasons why each individual thinks differently – because our maps are different.
Understanding our own map and the differences in other people’s maps can help us communicate much more effectively.
Submodalities
Our five senses – sight, sound, smell, taste and touch – are broad headings with each sense made up of many more subtle contributing factors. For example, within sight, we have colour, brightness, tone, contrast and field of view etc. Within sound, we have volume, rhythm, pitch, bass and treble. These submodalities are hugely important to how our mind records information and builds our own unique map of reality.
Visualisation
Imagine an actress rehearsing for a lead part – she visualises everything as she would want it to be, practising her lines with the right tonality, while standing in the correct posture and visualising herself becoming the person she is playing.
Often when we are anxious about something, we do the opposite. We rehearse and visualise it all going wrong. But there are some subtleties essential to getting positive visualisation to work effectively, which are little known.
Dolphin Hypnotherapy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, can help find the right way to make NLP work for you.
History of NLP
NLP is a methodology developed initially by Dr Richard Bandler and John Grinder. It has its roots firmly in cognitive therapy. The NLP techniques Bandler and Grinder developed were based on the work of three famous and quite brilliant therapists – Fritz Perls (founder of Gestalt therapy), Virginia Satir (famous for her pioneering work in family therapy) and Dr Milton Erickson.
For those of you who are fans of my friend and colleague Paul McKenna you may be interested to know that his techniques and methods are based on NLP.
