ABOUT THERAPY

Cancer and terminal iIlnesses - a possible ray of hope when all seems lost

During more than 28 years in private practice, I have been called upon to assist with pretty much every psychological and physiological issue imaginable.

Without a doubt, amongst the most distressing cases I treat, are those with terminal illnesses, often cancer.

One cannot imagine what it must be like to be told by the medical profession that there is nothing more they can do except perhaps in some cases slow down the progression of the illness.

Usually, when I am consulted in such cases it is to treat the severe and obviously understandable, anxiety around the situation and/or side effects such as insomnia or nausea.

However, anyone that knows me well would tell you that I am not the sort of person who can accept a no-win scenario, as one of my close friends put it “you would turn certain death into a fighting chance to live”. That is a pretty fair assessment, guess I was just born with revolutionist tendencies 😊

Most people will be aware that miraculous recoveries do occur. There have been countless reports worldwide, of medical professionals being “stumped”, in cases where a terminally ill patient seems to “spontaneously” go into remission/recovery without any seemingly logical explanation.

Never Give Up

Research suggests that the common denominator in virtually all such cases is the power of belief and the unconscious mind!

The unconscious mind is all that part of your memory, wisdom and perception that you are unaware of at any one moment, it is where your imagination resides, where your dreams come from and where your bodily repair systems are housed. It contains all your hidden power and potential and stores the perfect blueprint for the perfectly healthy human body, which it has done since your original embryo formed. If you can follow that, you will begin to understand the opportunity that exists..

Unfortunately, however, activating that which is necessary to create the miraculous recoveries described above, is not an exact or reliably replicable science in every case, but clearly, the potential to heal our body from anything exists and is there within our own unconscious mind.

Consequently, whenever I treat terminal patients for ancillary issues I always ask their permission to attempt to activate the relevant part of their unconscious mind.

What follows is a guided mediation or hypnotic trance if you prefer to call it that, designed to stimulate this potential of the unconscious mind.

Disclaimer: Please be very aware, I am in no way saying, nor purporting this, as any kind of a guaranteed cure, but it may just provide some hope in an otherwise hopeless situation and certainly cannot do any harm.  I am making it freely available to sufferers, clinicians and indeed colleagues in my field, who may find it of any use (in the case of clinicians and colleagues on the basis a ‘do follow’ link is provided from their website to this original article).

Instructions

When using this program, please ensure you are somewhere quiet, where you can lie or sit back at a comfortable angle (45 degrees is ideal) with your eyes closed and are unlikely to be disturbed for the duration of the audio file. If however you are disturbed or in the event of an emergency, please do not be concerned, you will be able to awaken immediately, refreshed and with all the necessary resources to deal with the situation at hand.

Whilst closing your eyes during this process is recommended, it is not essential, in my experience, it adds to the immersion in the sequencing but it is a matter of personal choice and what you feel most comfortable with. In a nutshell, you can close your eyes whenever you wish or it feels natural to do so, or indeed keep them open if that feels more comfortable.

Some of you may awake fully alert at the end of the sequence, some may fall into a short but restful nap from which you will awaken fully refreshed after a short time. Either is fine, although if you do have something specific to do after the session, it would be wise to set an alarm just in case. The audio is approximately 30 minutes in duration.

I recommend that you use this audio sequence every day for the first 21 days and 3 times per week thereafter until no longer required.

It is quite normal after awakening to feel very relaxed and not necessarily remember much of what was said. Both are good signs!

For the more anxious amongst you, who may worry about what was said or what you may have “missed”, I have included a full transcript at the end of this page (please be aware, however, that reading it is not likely to have anywhere near as powerful effect, as listening to it as directed).

(Please be aware, at frequent points during this audio sequence, my voice/what I am saying may not be completely clear; this is deliberate! It is like telling a child a bedtime story, I don't want you hanging on every word! The idea is to drift off :-))

Further suggestions

It may surprise you to know, that even when the NHS or medical professionals are no longer able to offer much help or hope, there are other avenues you can explore.

Research is being conducted all the time and driving cutting edge treatments. What was once science fiction is becoming science fact on a daily basis.

You may therefore wish to consider volunteering for a research program involving experimental new treatments.

Cancer Research UK and a host of other organisations worldwide are often involved with this type of research and looking for volunteers. When there is little or nothing to lose, this can be an avenue worth exploring.

Some Words of Comfort

The induction phase of this meditation is intentionally and deliberately quite spiritual in nature.

Please note, I do mean spiritual, not religious, there is a major difference!!

Hopefully, it will help anyone, including those who have little or no spiritual interest, to understand the importance.

For those who wish to explore spirituality further, I would recommend attending any meditation classes accessible and/or reading the Tao Te Ching or anything written by Dr Michael Beckwith.

On that spiritual note, the following quotes and passages may be of some considerable comfort.

“When a wave breaks upon the shore, it is not destroyed nor gone, it merely returns to be part of the ocean”.

“Many will ask where will I go (if anywhere) after I die, a more important question may be, where were you before you were born”?

We know from science that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. Life IS energy!

Death is nothing at all.

I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

Induction

Focus your attention on your breathing, allow yourself to become more and more absorbed in the life, the energy, of your own body.

Notice how effortless it can be to breathe, how the life force within you causes you to breathe, feel that life force, and allow yourself to enjoy that effortlessness.

Your inner body has so many subtle levels, in fact, our bodies are something of an illusion, a veil and yet it holds your eternal presence, it is a doorway, a portal, into that presence, into your intuition, into that stillness and calm that lies within,

Focus your attention now on your toes…..  on the spaces between the bones of your toes. I want you to imagine each bone separating slightly from the other bones,  The ligaments that keep them in place just temporarily dissolving, leaving nothing but empty space between those bones… and breathe.. into those spaces

And continuing on up through your feet to your ankles, imagining all the bones in your feet just temporarily separating, the ligaments dissolving just for a while, leaving nothing but empty space between those bones…

Continue on up to your ankles now… and imagine that all the bones of your foot just temporarily separating from your leg bones.  There are two bones in your lower leg, imagine them both detaching, the ligaments dissolving until your leg bones are suspended in the air above your feet. Feel into those spaces

And continuing on up through your knees now, imagining your kneecaps separating, the bones detaching, just for a while, the ligaments dissolving

and breathe.. into those spaces.

Feel into the stillness of those spaces

With each breath, you are claiming those spaces and bringing presence and consciousness into those places.

And now on up the leg to the hips, that place where the bones of your hips meet your pelvis. This is a big bone.  Imagine it just temporarily separating from its joint as all the bones of your legs are now hovering… motionless in space.

The pelvic cavity is an interesting place.  It is a place many people don’t have much awareness.  We tend to store our emotions, particularly our negative ones, in this area.  I want you right now to claim this space in this moment, to choose to bring presence into your pelvic girdle.

Connect with the bones.

Connect with the spaces.

In your feet, legs, pelvic girdle.

All the formal matter of your body, the cells, the ligaments, bones and joints, are all bathing in the spaces of your body, suspended in the stillness.

As you breathe in, imagine your entire spine…. lifting out of the pelvic girdle, all the bones of your vertebrate……….. lifting….. and separating…., hanging suspended in space……….

Continuing on to the area of your spine where your shoulder blades attach.  Imagine your shoulder blades detaching from the spine, creating space, creating freedom.  Finally being released.

breath into the space behind your shoulder blades.

Releasing any tension that may be held there.

And now to your jaw...allowing the jaw to detach, feeling into the spaces and allowing any tension that might be held there to be released...

opening the spaces of your cranial cavity breathing into those spaces

feeling your body as jigsaw pieces all suspended in the vast space within you.

All the formal matter of your body, the cells, the ligaments, bones and joints, hanging suspended in the spaces of your body.

Feel into the stillness of those spaces

We have learned from science that even what we think of as matter… is really mostly empty space.  When we break down the atom we find very little there, almost an indiscernible amount compared to the space which surrounds it.

So now just imagine all the matter of your body dissolving for a while as you focus on the vast spaces within your atoms....

Bones, tissue, all the matter of your body just dissolving for a while leaving only infinite vast space....

You may notice that your sense of your own boundaries gets a little fuzzy here...  you may not be able to tell exactly where you begin or where you end!

For when we penetrate this deeply within we realize that those boundaries are merely illusions.

And now let that space extend and reach outwards… connecting to the space in this room…, to the space within me……, feel into that space.

And let it extend outwards again, into this street, connecting to the space within this street and to the space within all the people in it,

And expand that space out even further into this whole town and the people in it………..to the whole country……….

Let it connect with the space that is the entire world, this beautiful blue jewel suspended in the vastness of galactic space...

Allow your consciousness to encompass the entire planet, feeling the oneness of Life of which you are such an integral part

And that infinite space which is you reaches out beyond the planet…. right out into the furthermost reaches of the universe and the heavens, it is this space which connects us all to each other and everything to everything

this space is a perfect place for us to contemplate our eternalness...

our connection to Being...

experiencing the very nature of Being....

You see, within you is the very space that makes up the universe... you are not a child of the universe, you are the universe, it resides within you and you within in it.

Our bodies are merely an illusion, a veil and yet it holds your eternal presence, it is a doorway, a portal, into that presence, into your intuition, into that stillness and calm that lies within,

 (The Analogy)

Now pretty much everyone is familiar with the story of Alice in wonderland but few people know about her 3rd adventure.

As we all know Alice was a curious little girl, but what was almost a secret was that she was most curious about her body and other people's bodies, in fact, all bodies…… because they seemed to her so almost impossibly perfect

Alice imagined that when she grew up she would be a nurse or even a doctor. For she often pondered that to cure the sick and afflicted, when no one else could, would surely be the greatest adventure of all.

But being just a little girl, she knew so very little about how bodies worked, she could have read books and studied diagrams but that seemed so boring and would take so very long

so she decided to investigate this most important matter in another way and what better way than to be so small she could climb inside a human body and take a look around for herself.

Now that may seem impossible to us, but Alice often imagined as many as 6 impossible things before breakfast, now didn’t she.

For, after all, nothing is really impossible and as she once said

If I had a world of my own. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?” which is really quite simple isn’t it.

And so Alice went back to the rabbit hole and made her way to the secret room where her adventures first began. She collected up the bottle marked drink me which she now knew could make her smaller and smaller and smallerer and a piece of the cake which makes one bigger and bigger and biggerer.

She packed them up into her wrist bag so they would not get lost, nor be in her way and off she set.

Late That night, She went to several houses in her street and looked at a number of different sleeping bodies but they just didn’t take her fancy,

But Finally, she came across one, that looked perfect, a person sleeping so peacefully and with what seemed to her… a most pleasant disposition and a very friendly face.

So she climbed through the open window and sat gently on the bed near the head which she definitely thought was a good idea as it was the open end after all, and once so very small she would not wish to have to climb too far, for that might make her sleepy.

She took the shrinking potion out of her purse and drank a few drops, she began to grow smaller and smaller until she was just about the size of a mouse but of course, that wasn’t nearly small enough. So she postulated (and Alice loved to postulate) that as she was already small, just one more drop of potion should do it and any more might surely make one disappear quite completely and she didn’t want that.

Indeed, one more drop most certainly did do the trick, why she was now no bigger than the babiest baby ant.

And so Alice climbed up the face and into the nasal passage, it was almost like a jungle, so many itchy hairs.

She made her way through the sinus and eventually found her way to the brain, this was most interesting, thousands of flashing lights as the neurons fired across the structure.

She swam down taking a good look around all the major organs, heart, liver, kidneys and stomach, investigating and noting how they all worked.

Then Alice noticed something very strange, it was a large lump made of the most unruly and disobedient cells, all doing their own thing and growing wildly without any permission or instruction at all. They were arguing with the other good cells around them and simply wouldn’t do a thing they were told, they were scruffy and untidy, creating all sorts of trouble and mayhem and really shouldn’t be there at all. Why they were even meaner than the queen of Hearts and we all know how troublesome she could be.

Alice tried to reason with them but they would not listen and kept running off in different directions. Alice warned them that if they would not listen and behave themselves, then they would simply have to go!

The wayward cells just laughed and carried on with their mischief, so Alice took out her shrinking potion and poured 2 drops onto the biggest group which promptly shrank and shrank until they were no bigger than her thumb. And as she was herself no bigger than the tiniest baby ant that was very small indeed.

HAHA thought Alice, one more drop should surely do it, but then again…. it would be most agreeable if you most disagreeable troublemakers did disappear entirely, so she added 2 more drops and poof like a puff of smoke they disappeared completely.

She gave chase to the other unruly cells who had sped off in different directions and before long had evaporated every single one of them into nothing.

AHH that’s better, thought Alice, now this most kind person can sleep peacefully and soundly without any further interference.

She had a last look round and found all manner of fascinating body parts, this was certainly far more interesting than a book and she felt certain that the more bodies she visited the more she would learn.

and so Alice came to discover once again that believing the impossible, oftentimes, is a good thing, a very good thing and can lead to the most miraculous miracles, if only one simply dares to believe…

And of course, we know that miracles happen around us every day…

with every birth

and all those times in all our lives ….when at the 11th hour…. when all seems lost…. the universe steps in…. and helps us….. in ways… we never imagined possible

for the day is always darkest just before the dawn.

And Alice still visits the sick and the afflicted every night to help the miracles of the universe on their way

perhaps tonight she might visit you, might she not?

You were born with the perfect blueprint within your DNA, the blueprint to create and maintain the perfect human body. And despite the unwanted cells that have been residing within you, that perfect blueprint is still there, right now your DNA is rearranging, modifying, cleansing and perfecting all the cells in your body. Restoring that blueprint for perfect health.

And tonight, while you sleep and while you dream, changes are going to occur, changes for your benefit, your happiness and your perfect health. And you won’t know how it is, that you now know what you know, but you’ll know that you know it.

We know we can all daydream, we can all sleep and we can all … OPEN OUR EYES.
